Covid-19 Vaccinations Commence At Last

I am pleased to report that the Dover Centre went live on Thursday 14th January. The first vulnerability groups are now being contacted. Work is also underway to identify a vaccination site in Deal.

As of Feb 5th the Clockwork Pharmacy at the bottom of South Street is now administering vaccinations. The Balmoral Surgery is also expected to come on line soon.

Sandwich Connect Bus Service To Continue

Following an approach from the Parish Council to K.C.C. we have just heard that funding will be made available to keep the pilot bus service running until at least June 2021.

The four times week-daily service runs from the village to Sandwich and onwards to Staple, further information can be found by clicking here.

It is essential that villagers support this service when Covid allows or it will be lost to us next June.

Covid 19 Vaccine Testing Volunteers Needed

Volunteer to help find the vaccine for COVID-19! Join the national effort and sign up for the NHS COVID-19 vaccine research registry. Be a part of the fightback against the virus by volunteering to be contacted by researchers in order to take part in COVID-19 vaccine research.

There are a number of vaccines being identified, but only large-scale studies can give researchers the information needed about how effective they are.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is working with the NHS and aims to recruit as many people as possible onto the registry. Registering will allow people to be put in touch with the vaccine studies in the coming months.

Researchers are looking for people from all backgrounds, ages and parts of the UK, including people with or without existing health conditions, to take part in vaccine studies. This will help to make sure that any vaccines developed will work for everyone.

The service is available to anyone aged 18 or over and who lives in the UK.

There is no obligation to join in any study should you be contacted. However, by taking part you could help researchers find vaccines to protect us all more quickly. A successful vaccine, in turn, will help the NHS and save lives.

Covid And Great Mongeham Parish Council Meetings

To enable the Parish Council to continue operating during the current pandemic, GMPC have taken out a Zoom licence to enable the Council to hold virtual meetings.

These are held at the normal scheduled times and members of the public are welcomed, indeed encouraged, to participate.

If you would like to see your council in action, from the comfort of your own home, then contact the clerk for the meeting invitation.

Normal council rules apply in that the meeting will commence with an open forum when anybodies’ input is welcome. The meeting then moves on to its published agenda. Members of the public are welcome to spectate but cannot take part during this part of the meeting
